About Mount Holly, NJ

Originally called Northampton when it was founded by English colonialists in 1688, Mount Holly was later renamed for the holly trees that grow in great abundance in the region. It is the seat of Burlington County, and was initially a center of industry in New Jersey thanks to the great number of mills along the banks of the Rancocas Creek, which runs through the center of the township. Several parks in the region, including Iron Works Park and Creek Island Park, are popular leisure destinations within the township. Mt. Holly’s population expanded greatly in the middle of the 20th century, though it has been experiencing a steady decrease since that time. Today, Mount Holly has an estimated population of 9,490.
