About Doylestown PA

The county seat of Bucks County, the borough of Doylestown is located in the center of the county. With origins dating back to the mid-18th century, the town grew up around a local tavern that was located at the intersection of two major roadways. As the town expanded, it earned a reputation as a wonderful place to settle down and raise a family, while staying within reasonable proximity to the city of Philadelphia to the south. By the mid-20th century, the town undertook massive renovations that kept many of the town’s historic structures intact while introducing a wave of modern shopping centers and residential homes. Contemporary Doylestown contains a number of fascinating cultural destinations and amusements, including Fonthill Museum, Mercer Museum, Moravian Tile Works, and Kid’s Castle. Although the town is spread across just over 2 square miles, it boasts a population of 8,307 individuals as of 2014.
